Warning about Scanning Competitive Prices on AbeBooks.com

We were contacted by AbeBooks that they have started suspending accounts for anyone who is found to be excessively scanning prices on their website. Please turn off competitive scanning for AbeBooks, otherwise you will risk losing your account.

In Indaba:

Go to Options->Preferences
Shared Settings->Internet Lookup
Under the “Lookup Markets” uncheck Abebooks under “Competitive Prices Internet Lookup”

Shared Config Error!

Some Indaba users have experienced an error pertaining to shared configuration. This information includes company address, account settings, and many other settings.

The error message can be viewed here. (Opens small window.)

Upon receiving this prompt, it is best to click "No", which will then shut down the application. From there, you can restart Indaba Merchant, and all should function normally.

If this does not fix the problem, or if you have already clicked "Yes", you can restore your shared configuration settings from the Options menu. (Options->Restore Shared Config)

Each of the options on the screen that pops up are previous edits to the preferences. I recommend starting with the second most recent configuration, and testing to see if all preferences are as they should be. If this does not solve the problem, you can continue moving down the list until you find the last correct configuration.

Missing Half Orders in Indaba

There have been reports of missing Half orders that never make it into Indaba. This has been found to be a cause of orders not being returned in the automatic file reports generated by the File Exchange's website.

It is recommended that you manually request Half order reports at least once a week to retrieve any missing orders.

To generate order reports:

1. Go to File Exchange's website: http://pages.ebay.com/file_exchange/faq.html
2. On the left hand panel, click on "Download Files".
3. Under the "Listings and records" drop down box, choose "Half.com orders" and choose the time period
4. Click "Save" to request the order report
5. You may click on the "Completed Download" link (on the left hand panel) to see the available order reports or to see the status of the order report you just created.
6. Indaba will handle the rest. The application will automatically import the file during the next order receiving process.

You may also manually import the file into Indaba by:

7. Save the order report onto your computer.
8. In Indaba, select "Import Fulfillment Report -> From Half File"
9. Choose the file that you just saved
10. You may open up the task form to see the status of the import

Half orders are being returned as eBay orders.

There is a known bug where Half multi-item orders are incorrectly coming in as eBay multi-item orders in Indaba. This has been identified as a bug in eBay's system. You may view details at eBay Developer Forums website.

This only affects multi-item orders. Single item transactions will come in correctly. Please DO NOT ship these orders. Mark these orders as “Canceled” and move them to history. You may distinguish Half orders by the following characteristics:

* Buyer Name is the actual buyer's name (and not the eBay user id)
* The "listing" or "item number" usually starts with "12"
* The SKU comes in as "NO SKU"
* Order has two or more items
* The order usually comes in with status “Awaiting Payment”

We've been talking about starting a blog for months, but I finally decided to go ahead and do it. I figured that most companies do, and I am the most likely candidate to take this leap and set up this blog, as its primary purpose will be status and customer-related information.
